Kotsu is a Chrome extension. It has no backend: we don’t run servers that receive, store or process your data, and we have no way to see what you keep in Kotsu.
What Kotsu stores and where
- Sprint settings, tasks, links, comments, the day log and sprint notes are stored with Chrome’s extension storage (
chrome.storage) on your device. - Part of it uses
chrome.storage.sync: if you have Chrome sync turned on, Chrome syncs it between your browsers through your own Google account, under Google’s privacy policy. Kotsu doesn’t receive a copy. - Removing the extension removes its data from the browser.
Google Calendar
If you connect your calendar, Kotsu asks Google for read-only access to your events (calendar.events.readonly) and requests today’s events directly from your browser to show the next meeting and the agenda. Events are not sent anywhere else and Kotsu can’t create, change or delete them. You can revoke access at any time in your Google Account settings.
Pages you have open
When you add a task, Kotsu reads the title and address of the current tab to fill in the link. On Jira (atlassian.net, jira.com) it reads the sprint dates from an open board and a ticket’s title. This happens only when you use these features, and the result stays in your extension storage.
Analytics and third parties
Kotsu doesn’t include analytics, ads or trackers, doesn’t sell or share data, and doesn’t use it for anything other than showing it back to you.
This website
kotsu-tracker.com (not the extension) uses Google Analytics to count visits, opens of the live demo and clicks on “Add to Chrome”. Google Analytics sets cookies and receives your IP address and browser details under Google’s privacy policy. Nothing you do inside the demo is recorded. You can block it with any tracker blocker or the Google Analytics opt-out add-on.
